The NHS Thrift Store

Every sweater, mug, and paperback feeds an animal.

The NHS Thrift Store has been a Cobourg staple for years. It’s where the community drops off treasures they no longer need — and where every dollar spent goes back into caring for animals across Northumberland.

Your impact

Where the dollars go.

Thrift Store revenue covers a meaningful share of NHS’s annual operating budget — the kibble, the surgeries, the heat in winter, the toys and beds and litter that fill the shelter every day.

1 bag of donations ≈ one week of cat food
$25 spent in store ≈ vaccines for one kitten
1 hour volunteering ≈ a sorted donation rack

Volunteer at the store

Sort, style, sell — and have a blast doing it.

Thrift Store volunteers run sorting tables, build window displays, price stock, and staff the till. It’s some of the most fun volunteering NHS offers, and one of the easiest schedules to fit around real life.
